The energy was high Friday night at Chesterton High School as members of the CHS Music and Drama department prepared for their debut fall musical performance, “The Sound of Music”. Ironically, the original Broadway production of “The Sound of Music” opened on November 16, 1959.

The Lakes of Valparaiso and Wise Guys Liquors joined forces to offer the public a fall flavored wine tasting event. As the snow blanketed the ground outside, the event acted as the perfect opportunity to ‘wine’ down at the beautiful Lakes of Valparaiso Clubhouse.
An assortment of hats was spotted Wednesday morning at the Duneland Chamber of Commerce’s second annual Hatta Girl, a celebration of local women. From fedoras to berets, the hats were as diverse as the women wearing them. Tea was enjoyed from ornate china cups, and guests listened to inspirational messages from four amazing women. The heartfelt messages were as warm as the tea as the panelist discussed the art of juggling life as a modern-day woman.

The City of Crown Point and American Legion Post 20 Become Veterans and Community to the 2018 Veterans Day Ceremony
On Sunday, the Crown Point community gathered to honor one of our country’s most important and solemn holidays, Veteran’s Day. American Legion Post 20 partnered with the City of Crown Point to host a ceremony within the iconic Old Courthouse to recognize the service and sacrifice of veterans across the country.
On Saturday, Beatles fans from across the Region gathered under the stars in Zao Island’s newest venue, the Greenhouse. They enjoyed a performance by one of our region’s premiere supergroups - the MegaBeatles, a Beatles tribute band composed of members from the CrawPuppies, the Chris and Lou Band, and Ed Reinhold.
On Saturday morning, Christmas shopping began early at Portage High School as members of the community enjoyed shopping from 120 local vendors all while supporting a great cause: Hannah’s Hope. There was something for everyone with diverse booths for shoppers and enjoyable activities, like a gingerbread house building contest for kids. It was beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, with a strong sense of community and a ton of fun.

As Purdue University celebrates 150 years of Giant Leaps, the Purdue Alumni Association’s International Council of Purdue Women hosted its inaugural Women’s Conference in downtown Chicago. On November 1–2, 175 Purdue alumnae and women from across the country attended the two-day networking event to share in the challenges and victories of being a woman in both the workplace and beyond. A handful of inspiring keynote speakers and dozens of varied breakout sessions empowered women to live their best professional, personal, and intellectual lives.
