America has always been about local, small businesses. The ability for a person or a group of people to take an idea to fruition and materialize it has been the hallmark of the American Dream. To this end, local communities establish many avenues and groups to help facilitate small businesses thrive. One of these groups is the Chamber of Commerce.
With American families caught up in their own Christmas plans, meeting with their loved ones, and tasting their traditional holiday meals, some might forget that the holiday is global. Residences at Deer Creek took the chance on Wednesday to give their residents and visitors a chance to sample some internationally themed holiday cuisine.
Lake Central High School hosted its annual Winter Band Concert in its auditorium Tuesday evening to a great crowd of friends and family. Proud parents were already lining up outside of the auditorium before doors even opened, and soon enough, seats were taken and the room was filled with family and friends.
As you’re getting in the holiday spirit this season, your taste buds might be yearning for a delectable wintry drink to brighten your day, don’t worry- we’re not talking about eggnog. The folks over at Indiana Beverage are making sure our shelves and stockings can be filled with a delicious assortment of beers this season. Among them were the Bell’s “Winter White,” Blue Moon’s “Pacific Apricot Wheat,” Lagunitas’ “Sucks Ale,” Revolution Brewing’s “Fistmas,” and Samuel Adams’ Winter Lager.
Christmas time has many defining traits that almost everyone in America will recognize- Hot Cocoa, Peppermint everything, flurries of snow, and most of all- iconic and unique musical pieces that set the season of giving apart. Chesterton High School Band celebrated that musical tradition on Sunday with their 2017 Holiday Concert, featuring their Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and their Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble working together in the Combined Christmas Band.
Healthcare Foundation of La Porte's 2017 Holiday at the POPS Brings Community Together to Kick off the Holiday Season
Saturday night, the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte’s Holiday at the Pops Concert kicked off the season with a bang. The show has been bringing the La Porte community together for the last 23 years in the spirit of the holidays and defining the beginning of the Christmas season for a community. The snowfall could not deter members of the La Porte community and surrounding area from streaming into the La Porte Civic Auditorium and embracing the spirit of the season together.
If there ever was a time machine for Regioners to go back and experience their childhood Christmas, this would be it.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the “A Christmas Story” themed exhibition at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond, and Northwest Indiana’s biggest influencers gathered to celebrate its reception in full force Wednesday night at the reception.
On Wednesday, Strack and Van Til hosted their annual Vendor Christmas Party at St. James Hall in Highland. The party welcomed over 300 guests, all vendors in some way to the Strack and Van Til stores located around Northwest Indiana.
The party provided food, beverages, raffles, and plenty of prizes for those in attendance. With coolers, tv’s, fruit baskets, and many other items raffled off each hour, excitement was high and appreciation felt by all.
Unique events can make anyone's day a little bit better. For residents of The Lakes of Valparaiso, they were treated to a fun surprise around the Thanksgiving holiday.
