Northwest Indiana McDonald’s Operators celebrated recently, to much fanfare and public involvement, the historic reopening of their East Chicago location, which features all of the latest and greatest features, design and technology that McDonald’s restaurants have to offer.
Dave Furman, Restaurant Management Corporation President, was in attendance and spoke about the new location and the landmark celebration which took place on August 21st.
“We are extremely happy with our newest facility here in East Chicago,” Furman said. “It is the very first ‘Experience-of-the-Future’ type of McDonald's in Northwest Indiana. What makes it different is how it changes the customer and employee experience.”
Furman outlined some of the unique qualities that this McDonald’s location now boasts in saying, “Specifically, it is the table service and the option of using a self-ordering kiosk. It’s the modern décor and comfortable seating. It is the latest in Drive-thru technology, with digital menu boards and a pull forward window.”
McDonald’s employees at the new East Chicago location will also enjoy the enhanced technology and layout that is featured. “For employees, it is the latest kitchen design and features that make their work environment far better than the old building,” Furman added.
The location is already receiving encouraging feedback from visitors, as Furman noted, “I have spoken to many of our customer and have received a lot of positive reactions, especially those with families that appreciate the dining room, self-serve beverage tower and kid’s electronic games.”
Indiana State Representative Earl Harris Jr. was on-hand to celebrate the opening, and, fittingly enough, Harris had been a middle school band member who played at the celebration of the first grand opening ceremony.
“It’s great to see how they took the previous McDonald’s, levelled it, and built up a new location which is really a state-of-the-art McDonald’s,” Harris said. “I expressed my appreciation for this and the fact that they care enough about East Chicago to make sure we’ve got the best and newest technology here in our city. It means a lot to our citizens to see the value of the area and for that sort of investment to be put back into the community.
“Two things that I’ve been saying for a while is that Northwest Indiana, as a whole, has so much potential and that this region is Indiana’s best kept secret,” added Harris. “It’s becoming less and less of Indiana’s best kept secret and I think what that is saying is that people are discovering the value of East Chicago and the surrounding cities. It’s created a great position for us to be in in terms of economic development and jobs.”
