Over twenty businesses in downtown Hobart will be participating in Small Business Saturday on Saturday, November 25th from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Each of the businesses will offer a special promotion for the day. A Welcome Station will be located at The Art Theater, 230 Main Street in Hobart. Here shoppers can obtain a business “passport” and map of all participating businesses and the special promotions offered by each business. Shoppers who receive “passport stamps” by visiting at least five (5) participating businesses may enter their names in a raffle at the Welcome Station to win prizes and gift cards donated by Hobart businesses. Free Small Business Saturday tote bags are available to shoppers at the Welcome Station on a first come, first serve basis.
The Regional Development Company recently held its annual awards ceremony and has named Centier Bank "Bank of the Year" in 2017 for its efforts in community lending. Centier Bank was awarded the Most Active Bank Partner with eight loans and $5,137,000 in referral dollars. Additionally, Centier's Greg Gordon was presented with a "Most Active Lender" award for referring $3,670,000 in debenture dollars.

On Wednesday afternoon, the city of Hammond and representatives from Lear Corporation celebrated the groundbreaking for a new Lear Corporation facility. Construction on this new 240,000 square foot facility will begin immediately, with plans for production to begin in April of 2019.
